New Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Standard

Everything you need to know about the new engineering standard as MOET comes to an end.

Engineering Maintenance Technicians keep the UK’s infrastructure running – delivering reliability, safety, and performance across critical sectors.

As the industry evolves, so do the standards that shape its workforce. The new Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Standard is now live and will fully replace the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (MOET) standard, which ends on 31 December 2025.

About Engineering Maintenance Technician

The Engineering Maintenance Technician standard introduces a clear structure with defined pathways:

Each pathway has the same core knowledge and skills statements along with the relevant specialist knowledge and skills, and the dual discipline provides two popular combined pathway options.

Funding for the standard is set at £27,000, reflecting its comprehensive scope.

New Dedicated Revision Guide

We are proud to support the End-Point Assessment for this standard, and for the first time, we have created a dedicated revision guide for the knowledge assessment – designed to help apprentices prepare with confidence and give employers peace of mind.

By choosing us as your end-point assessment organisation, you also receive:

  • A personalised End-Point Assessment experience tailored to your needs.
  • A dedicated Service Delivery Coordinator who ensures a smooth journey from onboarding to post-cohort review.
  • Free practice assessments and technical guidance
  • “Learning from experience” sessions to continuously improve delivery
  • A wide range of support materials crafted by industry experts

Alongside delivering the End-Point Assessment, our team has also developed a full suite of Ofqual-regulated qualifications for the Engineering Maintenance Technician. These qualifications have been 100% mapped to the standard, guaranteeing complete coverage of all knowledge and skills criteria.

MOET will end as an apprenticeship standard on 31 December 2025, and we will continue delivering End-Point Assessment for the standard until the last apprentice has finished. If you still have MOET apprentices, we are here to provide guidance, resources, and support.

For more information about our End-Point Assessment services or the Engineering Maintenance Technician qualifications suite, contact our expert team today. We are here to provide guidance, answer your questions, and help you find the best solution for your learners and organisation.
