Summary
The Foundation Apprenticeship in General Engineering and Manufacturing provides young people with a broad introduction to the engineering and manufacturing sector through paid employment and structured learning. Apprentices develop technical knowledge and practical skills alongside essential employability skills, behaviours, and English and maths, combining hands-on workplace experience with off-the-job training. Working in environments such as production, maintenance, assembly, machining, fabrication and welding, apprentices learn to carry out engineering and manufacturing tasks safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales. Completion of the apprenticeship demonstrates competence in the required technical and employability standards and provides a strong foundation for progression into employment or further training, including a Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship.
