Summary

The Energy & Environment Awards Level 3 Certificate in Substation Fitter Construction Operations qualification suite supports the development of substation fitters working across safety critical power environments. The qualifications build the technical skills and knowledge required in all aspects of substation fitter construction operations, with clear routes for specialism depending on role and responsibility.

There are three different pathways which allow the learner to specialise and achieve units according to their role and areas of responsibility:

  • Energy & Environment Awards Level 3 Certificate in Substation Fitter Construction Operations (Mechanical Plant) (610/5981/X)
  • Energy & Environment Awards Level 3 Certificate in Substation Fitter Construction Operations (Electrical Plant) (610/5998/5)
  • Energy & Environment Awards Level 3 Certificate in Substation Fitter Construction Operations (Remove and Refurbish) (610/5592/X)

The qualifications have been developed by Energy & Environment Awards in collaboration with employers, training providers and technical experts from across the power industry, ensuring they reflect real-life working practices and align with current sector expectations. Units are mapped to the core elements of the Power Industry – Substation Fitter apprenticeship, supporting a clear progression route into and through the workforce.

The qualification can be used and funded through the apprenticeship levy (excluding registration and certification costs) when delivered as part of the apprenticeship standard. This allows employers to maximise levy investment while developing substation fitters with the competence, skills and knowledge required for construction operations within high risk power environments.
