Ofqual Recognition

The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England. In order for an Awarding Organisation to offer regulated qualifications, which include end-point assessments, the Awarding Organisation has to achieve Ofqual recognition by successfully passing through their recognition process.

EUIAS achieved Ofqual recognition in February 2021. This was achieved by demonstrating that we meet Ofqual’s recognition criteria which include:

  • Constitution and governance
    • We have governance arrangements that provide appropriate support for our awarding activities, and appropriate arrangements for managing conflicts of interest and developing and delivering valid assessments
  • Resources and financing
    • We have appropriate systems, processes, resources and facilities to develop and deliver valid assessments
  • Competence
    • We have the necessary understanding of, commitment to and approach to the development and delivery of valid assessments

Customers can be confident in the assessment service offered by EUIAS, and that confidence can be maintained as all awarding organisations are required to make annual statements of compliance to Ofqual confirming that they continue to operate in accordance with Ofqual’s conditions.
