Everything you need to know about the new engineering standard as MOET comes to an end.
Engineering Maintenance Technicians keep the UK’s infrastructure running – delivering reliability, safety, and performance across critical sectors.
As the industry evolves, so do the standards that shape its workforce. The new Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Standard is now live and will fully replace the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (MOET) standard, which ends on 31 December 2025.
About Engineering Maintenance Technician
The Engineering Maintenance Technician standard introduces a clear structure with defined pathways:
- Single Discipline: Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Control.
- Dual Discipline: Electrical & Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation & Control.
Each pathway has the same core knowledge and skills statements along with the relevant specialist knowledge and skills, and the dual discipline provides two popular combined pathway options.
Funding for the standard is set at £27,000, reflecting its comprehensive scope.
