Skills England has committed to reviewing and updating Assessment Plans for all apprenticeship standards in England by August 2026. Included in the initial list of plans to be reviewed are four apprenticeship standards for which Energy & Environment Awards offer an End-Point Assessment service. The initial list includes the following:
- Electrical Power Protection and Plant Commissioning Engineer
- Lead Engineering Maintenance Technician
- Gas Network Craftsperson
- Gas Network Operative
Electrical Power Protection and Plant Commissioning Engineer and Gas Network Craftsperson apprenticeship standards were subject to review prior to the announcement of the reforms. This will result in a revised apprenticeship standard and apprenticeship assessment plan.
The Lead Engineering Maintenance Technician and Gas Network Operative roles will retain the existing standard but have a new apprenticeship assessment plan replacing the current End-Point Assessment plan.
We also know that the Electrical Power Network Engineer standard was under review before the reforms were announced, and we expect a revised standard and assessment plan for this standard to be available soon.
Skills England also announced that they have put on hold the revision of end-point assessment plans for apprenticeship standards in the Construction and Built Environment route. For Energy & Environment Awards, this impacts:
- Gas Engineering Operative
- Dual Fuel Smart Meter Installer
- Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician
- Low Carbon Heating Technician
Skills England has indicated that they intend to complete the revision of all assessment plans by August 2026.
If you have any questions about the assessment plans, we encourage you to attend one of our upcoming workshops.
