Apprenticeship Units – Solar PV installation and maintenance

Following demand from training providers, we are developing the Solar PV installation and maintenance apprenticeship unit.

Apprenticeship units are part of the Government’s approach to widening access to funded skills solutions, through the Growth and Skills Levy, to upskill existing workers in addition to apprenticeships. This apprenticeship unit is for employed electricians who, with the support of their employer, need to develop their knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of solar PV installation and maintenance. It is funded at £950 per learner and delivered through a 35-hour programme

To support delivery, our qualification will meet the requirements of the mandatory assessment. Working with training providers and industry experts, the assessment comprises a multiple-choice test covering the knowledge requirements and a practical skills assessment. The practical element is designed to allow centres flexibility in how it is delivered either by centres or ourselves.

Our Solar PV Installation and Maintenance apprentice unit will be available this summer and is another example of a skills solution designed to meet employers’ immediate upskilling needs with minimum disruption to their workforce.
