Water Industry Asset Maintenance Technicians keep essential water systems operating safely and efficiently. They work across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation, control and automation pathways to maintain and repair assets critical to water supply and treatment.
The Level 3 apprenticeship runs for 48 months plus a 3-month End-Point Assessment, which includes a multiple-choice test, observation with questions, and a portfolio-based interview. Replacing the Utilities Engineering Technician standard, this updated programme reflects current industry needs and was shaped by employer input, ensuring strong demand and relevance. Gateway Requirements
The stage of the apprenticeship where the apprentice, employer and training provider determine whether the apprentice is ready to undertake end-point assessment.
Apprentice must have achieved English and Mathematics in line with the apprenticeship funding rules.
Apprentice must have compiled and submitted an EPA portfolio of evidence, which the interview will be based on.
