Summary
Substation fitters work in the power industry for power network owners, operators, or contractors.
They work in and around substations. A substation is a part of an electrical generation, transmission, and distribution system. Substations transform voltage from high to low, or the reverse, and other important functions. Between the generating station and consumer, electric power may flow through several substations at different voltage levels.
We offer end point assessment (EPA) for the following three pathways for the Power Industry Substation Fitter:
Distribution maintenance
Transmission maintenance
Construction
End-point Assessment Components
- Knowledge Assessment
- Trade test practical assessment
- Trade test interview
- Interview based on a portfolio
Gateway Requirements
Apprentices must have achieved English and mathematics qualifications in line with the apprenticeship funding rules.
Apprentices must have passed Emergency first aid 1 day course.
Apprentices must submit a portfolio of evidence for the interview based on an EPA portfolio.
