Summary
A low carbon heating technician in the Building Services Sector plans, installs, services, and maintains zero carbon heating and hot water systems in various buildings. These systems may include ground air and air source heat pumps and solar thermal collectors.
They work on new and existing properties, handling installations, fault diagnosis, and repair of heating appliances and control systems. The role is physically demanding and requires excellent customer service skills. Technicians work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating with site managements and colleagues.

Gateway Requirements
The stage of the apprenticeship where the employer or training provider confirms whether the apprentice is ready to undertake end-point assessment.
Apprentices must have compiled and submitted an EPA portfolio of evidence to which the interview will be based on.
Apprentices must have achieved English and mathematic qualifications in line with apprenticeship funding rules.
